Progressive Sports offers the very best service went it comes to covering PPA time, the solution we offer includes; lesson planning, assessments, a seamless integration into the children’s daily routine and the same member of staff every week. We will deliver a service that meets all your needs!

A professional and sustainable solution for your school:
  • No planning is required by teachers. We deliver our own PE scheme of work, which follows National Curriculum guidelines.
  • We provide all lesson plans, evaluations and assessments (which are in-line with the OFSTED Framework).
  • You will have a dedicated primary PE specialist to ensure continuity for you and the pupils.
  • All of our programmes are subject to high quality control checks by management.
  • Our coaches are experts in games, dance and gym activities for children in early years to year 6.
  • We will help to establish and sustain a higher standard of physical education in your school.
  • You will have regular contact with the Progressive Sports’ management team to ensure we are delivering the service and support you need.
  • We aim to ensure that a child’s first experience of sport and physical education at school is a positive and enjoyable one.

A bit more about our staff…

We train and employ the very best team in Progressive Sports Bristol and South Glos. And, between them, they have many years of experience in delivering physical education to children in primary schools. Our coaches:

  • have NGB’s in a variety of (level 1-3) with our lead coaches having a minimum of a level 2 qualification;
  • hold awards in SAQ (I-DIPLOMA and P-AWARD);
  • are trained by independent PE consultants and advisors;
  • are subject to DBS check;
  • participate in a rigorous induction process;
  • attend regular training to support their continuous professional development (including good practice workshops and Sports Coach UK workshops);
  • have a full breadth of knowledge and skills and between them and are qualified to deliver over 20 different sports;
  • are passionate about physical education and the role it plays in a child’s development;
  • are personable, professional and reliable; and
  • have the energy and enthusiasm to make physical education enjoyable for children.

We are fully committed to the professional development of our staff, and we invest over £10,000 annually in Progressive Sports Bristol and South Glos on their development to ensure they can offer a service that is second to none to our customers.

Team Teaching

We can work alongside your teachers to provide them with professional support to help build their confidence and practical skills to lead more engaging and challenging PE lessons. You’ll also get evidence of the impact of our support, which can go towards your impact report for your Sport Premium spend. Team teaching is our favoured approach when developing staff confidence and skills, as we can work specifically to support each member of staff’s development.

Progressive Sports have been supporting our school, Barley Close, for many years. What started out as PE coaching has developed to a close partnership covering all aspects of school life. As well as supporting staff CPD they run a variety of sports clubs but can offer a variety of sports, if we want a specific sport they will find a coach who can deliver.

They have adapted with the ever changing challenges schools face- health and wellbeing is a huge area for our pupils so we spoke to Progressive Sports- they now offer us ELSA, weekly well being sessions, mentoring support and as they are all amazing role models to our young people the impact is incredible. We can see children growing in confidence, building better relationships and even in lockdown this work continued virtually. We also use them for PPA cover, so not only sport they follow our subject plans, our curriculum and school policies.

It in nutshell nothing is too much trouble or impossible and we are lucky and very proud that they are part of our school community.

The past Eighteen months have been some of the toughest for the education sector but also some of the most rewarding.  Our relationship with Progressive Sports can be seen through both of these lenses.  We approached the company in the first national lockdown to provide parents and carers of front line workers with an offer over the Easter weekend as we were concerned in April 2020 that NHS staff needed childcare.  We also wanted something physical, fun and engaging, so this is where our partnership with Progressive Sports began.  They put in place an Easter offer, then due to the success they followed this up in May half/term with another offer and worked exceptionally well with schools and Trusts, with positive feedback from Heads and CEOs.
They have since engaged with us in providing a sports offer for our most disadvantaged pupils in the Summer of 2020, again working with is locally on a high quality offer.  They continue to work with us now and we will be working with them as a provider for the Holidays and Food programme, where they have engaged with us again to provide a sports offer to children and young people.  They have been responsive, worked carefully within our Covid guidance and at all times have put our Children and Young People first.  The schools they have been involved in would also be their greatest advocates.  As a Council we will continue to work with them moving forwards.

Nova Primary has been working in partnership with Progressive Sports since January 2020. As headteacher, I have worked with organisations providing similar offers but none have been as efficient or enthusiastic. Progressive Sports staff facilitate a range of roles in the school including cover teachers, sports coaches for classes/clubs and sports mentors for children who need social and emotional support. We had a party today for my son who’s turning 6.
It was amazing! The kids all thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t want to leave.
Alex who ran the party was great! He checked in with me a couple of times to make sure we were on time for doing the cake etc which was really nice. He was so great with the kids, a lovely guy.

Progressive Sports booked the hall, entertained the kids and even brought party bags and a present for my son. It was so simple, I just brought the cake along and enjoyed it.  It was really easy and reasonably priced too. I couldn’t be happier.
