CPD for teachers

Are your staff delivering the very best PE lessons?

We know that PE can be an area that not all teachers feel comfortable teaching, NQT’s have minimal training and teachers sometimes feel they have a lack of subject knowledge. Yet, Ofsted will be inspecting the PE in your school following the announcement in March (2013) about the Sport Premium funding for schools to improve their PE & sport.

Progressive Sports can provide lots of solutions to equip your teachers with the skills they need in order to deliver high quality physical education lessons.  In particular, we can:

  • train teachers to be more confident in delivering Gymnastics, Dance or Games activities;
  • provide ideas for warm-up games, skill development, related games, game tactics and awareness across both key stages; and
  • train teachers in new sports in order to broaden pupils’ experience.

We will also provide data to measure the impact of any work that we provide, we will be fully accountable for supporting the school in driving improvement with the schools PE & sport.

Our training will be typically done as:

Ankermoor Primary who are working with Progressive Sports have been able to raise the profile of PE & sport in school. Ofsted (May 2014) recognised this as a key strength. Inspectors commented; ‘The school is making good use of the additional sports funding by employing sports coaches to extend the range of activities available to pupils within lessons and at lunchtimes and after school. The coaches are also developing staff skills in teaching games and physical activities. This has resulted in increased pupil involvement in a wide range of sports.’
